GRE Graduate Record Examination Test (GRE)

Since January 2020, the University of Mannheim’s Studium Generale is an official test centre for the Graduate Record Examination Test (GRE).

The GRE tests are conducted by the private organization Educational Testing Service (ETS). The online tests are carried out at the University of Mannheim on behalf of the ETS. Information regarding test dates and the application procedure are available exclusively at  https://www.ets.org/gre.

The test is divided into the following three parts:

                                                                                           Points

Verbal Reasoning                                                           130-170

Quantitative Reasoning                                                 130-170

Analytical Writing                                                              0-6

After approx. 10-15 days, the results can be viewed online and will be sent to the organizations you have chosen.

The test itself takes approx. 4 hours.

IMPORTANT INFORMATIONS FOR MARCH / APRIL 2020

ETS is proud to introduce a temporary test at home solution for test takers in select locations who are unable to take the TOEFL iBT® test and the GRE® General Test at a test center due to public health concerns. TOEFL® testing is scheduled to begin on March 26, and GRE testing will begin on March 27.

The remote proctored solution was developed specifically to address the immediate and urgent testing needs brought about by the coronavirus crisis. It will be deployed until the situation returns to complete normality with regular test center testing. We look forward to test center administrations resuming as soon as possible.

Find more details about the home option and answers to questions you may have on the TOEFL and GRE web pages dedicated to this purpose.
