Our available time slots are booked out fast. For this reason, please sign up for a language test as early as possible.

At the moment no gmx or web.de mails are delivered. Please use another mail address!!!!

Please send us the transfer voucher via e-mail, together with a copy of your student ID or regular ID-card/passport, to studiumgenerale@service.uni-mannheim.de and inform us about the test date you have chosen.

A medical face mask is recommended!

Please bring the language-certificate form to the test. We do not keep a record of the test results in our system. Fill out the header in legible block letters with your name, your student-ID number, and the language to be tested.

Language Certificate Form

The written part takes an hour and tests your writing skills and your reading comprehension. In addition, a ten-minute conversation with the examiner will be used to evaluate your listening comprehension and your oral expression.

You should plan a total of two to three hours for the whole test procedure.

The test is designed to evaluate the language levels A1 to C1. For language level C2, a separate test needs to be applied for, as C2 evaluates the language on an academic level, which requires more complex written and oral competencies.

C2 does not stand for “native speaker”!

You can cancel your registration for a language-certificate test up to 14 working days prior to the appointment and get your money back.

If you do not show up for the test, or if you cancel later than 14 working days before the test, you will not be refunded.

The test evaluates reading, writing, speaking and listening skills to measure the student’s ability to communicate successfully in an academic setting. The student is required to do a reading comprehension exercise and to write an essay on a general topic (approx. one page on the computer, one and a half pages hand-written). The participants should also be able to talk fluently about their study program as well as their professional plans and their proposed semester abroad.

Fill out the header of the Language Certificate Form   in legible block letters and attach it to your e-mail.

Upon receipt of your e-mail, we will confirm your registration and give you the link to the Zoom room as well as the scheduled time for the oral part of the test.

The fee is to be paid when signing up.

Please enter the Zoom room at the arranged time. A webcam and a good microphone are required. The examiner will check your ID prior to the test and will then send you the written part of the test via e-mail. You have 60 minutes time for the written part and are asked to then send it back to the examiner via e-mail.

The individual conversations for the oral part of the test begin after the written part is concluded. The conversation will take around 10 minutes per participant.

Cameras are to be kept on during both parts of the test.

The test cannot be evaluated if the camera does not function throughout the whole test. The participant is responsible for the technical condition of their computer during the test.

Test results will be available at the Studium Generale office two days after the test.

The certificates will be sent to the participants via e-mail. The certificate can also be sent to you in hard-copy by regular post; in this case, however, you are asked to first send a self-addressed and sufficiently stamped large envelope to: Universität Mannheim Service und Marketing GmbH / Studium Generale / L9,7 / 68161 Mannheim.
